Mesothelioma UK, a national charity that provides support and information to those suffering with mesothelioma, has funded a specialist nurse in Yorkshire.

The incidence of mesothelioma diagnoses in Yorkshire is on the increase, with more than 100 people being diagnosed with the  asbestos related cancer in the last year.

The nurse, Simon Bolton will work with patients in West and North Yorkshire out of the Harrogate District Hospital to provide specialist mesothelioma support to patients, whilst also raising awareness of the asbestos induced cancer.

Liz Darlison from Mesothelioma UK is delighted they have been able to fund the appointment; “With the increased number of mesothelioma patients in and around Yorkshire, Simon will focus on patient care, encouraging more clinical trials and research to take place, and taking the lead to support and educate more people on all aspects of mesothelioma”.
