We were contacted by Mr D during August of 2025 relating to his diagnosis of asbestos-related mesothelioma.
Alarmingly, our client fell ill whilst visiting his son in Australia and, following investigations in hospital, he received the devastating diagnosis. Unfortunately, he was deemed to be too poorly to fly back home to discuss his treatment options and had to instead return to the UK via a cruise, at considerable extra cost.
Heavy Exposure to Asbestos
Mr D had worked for insulation firms in the 1970s including L. B. Insulations, Express Insulations Limited and T.S. Insulation Services Limited.
As a lagger and metal cladder, he was regularly instructed to remove asbestos lagging from pipework at various locations including at Graylingwell Psychiatric Hospital in Chichester, Cynamids GB in Gosport and other sites across the Bristol and Avonmouth areas.
Worryingly, his employers did not provide adequate respiratory protection, the only PPE he received was basic overalls and a decorator type face mask.
It was alleged in his mesothelioma claim that the Defendants were negligent in exposing him to harmful amounts of airborne asbestos dust. He often worked in cramped, confined, dusty locations for these employers where there was no real ventilation.
Swift Justice Secured
After sending Letters of Claim to the traced insurers, we secured an early admission of liability and obtained an interim payment of £50,000 for our client. He was delighted to receive funds so quickly after first contacting us.
The case settled in February 2026 for £245,000 plus private treatment costs, just over six months after we were instructed to pursue his mesothelioma claim.
