Tens of thousands of people throughout the UK remembered those who have lost their lives to asbestos related mesothelioma on the 3rd July 2015 with various fundraising events being held to promote awareness and increase funding for research into uncovering a cure for the asbestos related cancer.
Whilst there is currently no known cure for mesothelioma, one sufferer offers hope to the approximate 100,000 sufferers of the condition, worldwide.
Paul Kraus, author of “Surviving Mesothelioma and Other Cancers: A Patient’s Guide” was diagnosed with asbestos related mesothelioma 18 years ago and will reach the age of 71 on the 20th October 2015, a milestone few anticipated he would attain.
Paul was born during the Second World War in a Nazi labour camp in October of 1944 and received confirmation of his diagnosis of peritoneal mesothelioma in 1997. This form of the condition affects the lining of the abdomen and is considered by many medical experts to be the most painful form of mesothelioma.
Shockingly, Paul suffered his asbestos exposure when working for a short time at a factory during the holidays when studying at university during the earlier part of his life.
He was told that as the mesothelioma had spread across his body his prognosis was thought to be bleak at no more than 6 months and he was advised that standard medical treatments would not assist him.
With the help of his wife, Paul has amazingly exceeded all medical experts’ expectations by making a number of alterations to his lifestyle and by making use of complementary treatments. He has worked closely with his treating medical team throughout and they have come to acknowledge the benefit of such treatments to Paul.
In an interview 4 years following his diagnosis, Paul shared advice he was given to accept the diagnosis but forget the prognosis and stated that the experience of suffering with mesothelioma and fighting the condition over 18 years had actually enriched his life.
For full details of Paul’s healing plan and life changes, mesothelioma sufferers and their families should consider purchasing Paul’s renowned publication which is now the best selling book on mesothelioma in the world.
