Mesothelioma UK is a national charity that provides resources for mesothelioma patients and their carers. They have an ever-growing network of specialist mesothelioma nurses, funded by Mesothelioma UK and based in NHS hospitals across the country.
As a charity, there is a board of Trustees safeguarding the charity’s assets and making decisions on how the charity it run.
Professor Mick Peake steps down
For many years, Professor Mick Peake was Chair of the Board of Trustees for Mesothelioma UK but he has now stepped down and Professor Nick Maskell has taken his place.
Professor Maskell is a trusted expert in the field of respiratory medicine and we regularly instruct him to provide independent medical reports in our cases.
Supportive medical evidence is key
Having a supportive medical report is key to a settling an asbestos disease compensation claim. Compensation claims are made up of two parts, an amount for pain and suffering and an amount for special damages or financial losses. The value of the pain and suffering is largely derived from the medical report and so it is essential to have an expert prepare the report. The special damages are made up of other losses such as loss of earnings, care and assistance and additional travel or other expenses.
The right man for the job
Everyone at Asbestos Justice would like to wish Professor Maskell all the best in his new position. His extensive knowledge of mesothelioma and how it affects patients will be invaluable to the charity.
