Council Exposure
Our client, Mr C was regularly exposed to harmful amounts of airborne asbestos dust when working as a carpenter and joiner for Wakefield Council between approximately 1961/61 and 1968/69 and was not provided with any personal protective equipment.

Finalising Mr C’s witness evidence was a time-consuming exercise as was gathering information on special damages, with a witness statement relating to the value of the claim and the financial losses also statement being prepared.
A letter of claim detailing the circumstances of our client’s exposure to asbestos was sent to the Defendant council on the 16th July 2024, just over a week after James first met with Mr C at his home. Just two months later, on 12th September 2024, James was able to secure a sizeable interim payment on account of damages of £50,000.00.
There was no use of counsel in the case, this was not needed due to James’s experience as an APIL accredited specialist asbestos disease solicitor.
Lost Years Claim Preserved
On 25th November 2024, just four and a half months James met Mr C, the case settled for a sizeable sum of £160,000.00, including the September interim payment.
