Asbestos Justice were contacted by Mr T during March 2025 in relation to his diagnosis of terminal mesothelioma.
He had already instructed a specialist asbestos disease solicitor to deal with his claim for mesothelioma compensation some 15 months prior to contacting us. He was concerned that the case had not been progressed as it should have been and he rarely heard from his solicitor with any updates on his case which was alarming given the urgency of his case.
Transfer of file
Following the transfer of his file during April 2025 we were concerned to note that a detailed witness statement covering the nature of his exposure to airborne asbestos dust with his former employer, Calico Printers Association Limited (now part of the Tootal Group of companies) had not been taken. This is something we always prioritise when dealing with living mesothelioma claims and we offer free home visits to all of our clients nationwide.
Enough exposure?
Mr T was exposed to asbestos dust on a passive basis when working for his former employer. Whilst, his exposure could not be considered substantial, we felt strongly that the exposure would amount to more than de minimis (very minimal) exposure and therefore, there was a fighting chance of succeeding in his mesothelioma claim.
We sent a letter of claim to the traced Defendant insurers swiftly during April 2025 and secured supportive medical evidence by July of the same year.
Swift justice secured
We secured an early admission of liability from the traced insurers in September 2025 and Mr T received an interim payment of £50,000. He was overjoyed with the level of service he had received compared to that of his previous solicitors.
The case settled for £245,000 plus private treatment costs during early October 2025, just over 6 months after we received initial instructions to transfer his file from his former solicitors.
Peace of mind
Mr T now has the peace of mind of knowing that he will be able to receive private treatment for his mesothelioma, paid for by the Defendant insurers. He is currently received NHS funded immunotherapy, however, the funding for this will be withdrawn two years after his diagnosis – in April 2026. Naturally, this has always been a concern for him but thanks to the hard work of our expert team, this treatment can now continue for as long as his treating oncologist recommends.
Happy client
Mr T was delighted with the service he received from his specialist asbestos disease solicitor, James Cameron and the team, writing on Trustpilot he stated:
“From the very first conversation, James was clear, pro-active and completely committed to moving my case forward. Thanks to his expertise, dedication and determination, James secured a financial settlement and agreement for ongoing medical treatment within 6 months. This outcome has made an enormous different to my family and I’s life. I cannot recommend James and his team highly enough to anyone facing a similar situation. They truly made all the difference when I need it most.”
