Mr D, who was diagnosed with asbestos-related mesothelioma, was exposed to asbestos when working for various companies in the shipbuilding industry between 1961 and 1986. These companies included Swan Hunter Plc and Vickers Armstrong (Shipbuilders) Limited. Our client also came into contact with asbestos dust when working for Newalls Insulation and JD Insulation. He was regularly required to cut up asbestos sheets and would also work close to others who were regularly removing asbestos lagging from pipework.
We successfully pursued the claim against Swan Hunter Group Plc and Vickers Armstrong during our client’s lifetime with the Defendants agreeing to pay tens of thousands of pounds in compensation. The case was settled within 8 months.
