We have previously written about the ongoing potential danger of asbestos in UK schools.

School in Bedworth to remove asbestos

One school in Bedworth, Warwickshire, has applied to their local Council to have two temporary classrooms erected to house pupils whilst asbestos is removed from the school.

It is expected that pupils at Exhall Grange School will need to use the temporary classrooms for two years whilst the asbestos removal takes place along with other maintenance works.

Portugal leading the way with school asbestos removal

Funding has been approved for the removal of asbestos in 31 schools in the Algarve. The CCDR Algarve, the area’s development commission, announced that €4.3million of funding is available from the European Union.

Managing asbestos in schools

In October last year the Government published guidelines for managing asbestos in schools and colleges, including details for funding asbestos works. They advise that asbestos removal works should be done in conjunction with other condition improving works.
