Asbestos Justice has successfully pursued a mesothelioma claim for a client arising out of his asbestos exposure which occurred in the 1950s.
We were instructed by a gentleman who, after undergoing a number of medical investigations, was diagnosed with mesothelioma. Unfortunately, he sadly passed away before the claim could be completed. However, we were able to conclude the claim successfully on behalf of his estate and the mesothelioma compensation was paid to his family.
Before he sadly died, we were able to obtain a detailed witness statement from him referring to the asbestos exposure he experienced during his employment with George Wimpey & Co Limited and Costain-John Brown Limited between approximately 1953 and 1955. It is vital in any asbestos claim to secure witness evidence the earliest opportunity and this was achieved in this successful claim for mesothelioma compensation.
Our client worked for both companies at a refinery construction site on the Isle of Grain. He worked as a welder’s mate and almost exclusively completed welding on pipework on the refinery. All of the pipes were either lagged with asbestos or in the process of being lagged with the harmful material. Our client recalled that there was asbestos all over the site and he was exposed to the deadly dust on a daily basis.
We obtained a supportive medical report which showed that our client’s mesothelioma was caused as a result of his exposure to asbestos with Wimpey and Costains.
We were able to agree an out of Court settlement in this case with our client’s family receiving a substantial award of mesothelioma compensation.
