Asbestos Justice has settled a mesothelioma claim on behalf of Mr H who was exposed to harmful amounts of asbestos when working for the University of Birmingham from 1991 onwards.
He was employed by the university as a security officer and worked regularly in the basement areas where boilers, pipe work, plant and equipment were lagged with insulation, The asbestos lagging materials were often in a poor damaged condition, crumbling away and in some cases, had fallen to the floor. Our client worked in the above areas in close proximity to maintenance workers who were involved in the removal of old insulation material during maintenance or repairs, and our client was required to walk into and check for the presence of personnel in segregated areas where insulation removal operations were being undertaken.
This claim is yet another example of how working near to others who work with asbestos can lead to the development of mesothelioma in later life.
Court proceedings had to be issued in this case to secure Mr H’s mesothelioma compensation in the total sum of £120,000.00 but many mesothelioma compensation claims settle without the need for court intervention.
