What are asbestos-related conditions?

What treatments are available for asbestos related conditions?

The treatments offered for asbestos related conditions depend on a number of factors, the condition you have and your general health being the main considerations.

Am I entitled to any government benefits as a result of my condition?

If you were exposed to asbestos whilst in employment in the UK, you may be entitled to Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit or a one off lump sum payment under the Pneumoconiosis Etc (Workers’ Compensation) Act 1979.

If you have been exposed to asbestos whilst self-employed, due to environmental factors such as living near an asbestos factory, or through secondary exposure such as from the clothes of a relative, you may be entitled to a payment through the 2008 Diffuse Mesothelioma Scheme.
